Travel laundry – drying your clothing
When you travel a while and want to launder your clothing quickly, it’s very helpful to have quick-dry clothing, and to avoid cotton, rayon, and linen and other slow drying fabrics. It is also helpful to know how to easily wash your clothing even if you are in a small room in a hostel or a cruise cabin with barely enough room for your stuff at all.

For drying, sometimes you will have access to a drying rack at a hostel, or perhaps even an outside clothesline. Sometimes you have to bring your own. Here are some of the best options if you have to bring your own. Note: as an amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
This is a great clothesline (set of 2) to hang your stuff to dry almost anywhere. I combine this with my random pack of things (twist ties, binder clips, magnets, . . .) and I can do laundry almost anywhere. [Click the picture to see it on Amazon – also available as a 1-pack but at a higher price]. This is fairly heavy though (considering the weight of the other options) so better for when weight isn’t much of an issue (like on a cruise or driving trip).
Another option is much lighter and made of flexible surgical tubing that is braided and you can just put small pieces of the corners of clothes into the braid to hold it to dry. This particular version has been used for over 70 years, so this design has staying power. It is very light and stretches up to about 7 feet if you can anchor it well (bring a carabiner or hook for more options) , but I’ve found the stuff jammed into the braid doesn’t dry well and comes out creased. This is what I use when I don’t have much space or weight is at a premium.
I am currently waiting to receive 2 new types of drying lines and will add reviews here once i’m done.
