Wishing wall and the home of Mary (Turkey)
Near Ephesus (Turkey), you can visit what is supposedly Mary’s home (based on study of an old book; many people treat it as a shrine, but it hasn’t been authenticated by the Catholic Church). There is a long line to go through the small building. The crowds are mostly reverential, although there are certainly many “ordinary” tourists as well, as this is a common tour bus stop.
The grounds also have a small keyhole-shaped baptismal pool and a Wishing Wall for placing wishes on either paper or fabric. A nearby water-fountain is also said to have the power of healing.
