Southport, North Carolina – not just for movie sets
Southport is known for its historic areas and the fact that many movies and shows have been filmed there (Movies filmed in Southport, NC including Firestarter (1984), Crimes of The Heart (1987), Weekend at Bernies (1989), Amos and Andrew (1993), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Night Flier (1997), Domestic Disturbance (2001), Summer Catch (2001) and A Walk To Remember (2002), Revenge (TV; 2011-2015), Safe Harbor (2017), Sleepy Hollow (TV:2013-2017), and The Dome (TV: 2013-2015).
If you go to Southport (in North Carolina, just about an hour east of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina), you can tour the historic seafront area. There is a historic burying ground there with many old graves from the 1800s and early 1900s as well as more recent ones, all being taken care of by the local historical group.
From there you can walk down by the water, and walk out on the many public piers on the waterfront that connect various parks, a few small sandy beach areas, and many historic sites, houses and buildings (with informational signs).
