The Everglades: Airboat experience
The Everglades: Airboat experience
An airboat through the Everglades is a fun experience all ages can enjoy, so long as the kids will not try to taunt the alligators.
Tours through the mangroves and grasses are offered by many tour companies so are easy to find online or from your hotel lobby.
Once you get out to the boat dock, they’ll power the airboat up, and you’ll go gliding, then later, nearly flying, through/over the grasses.
The guides will usually (always?) point out alligators along the way, and you can see numerous birds as well if you keep your eyes open and towards the trees
Many of the tour companies also have animal encounters or other attractions tacked on the tours as an additional incentive, so you may get to see a baby alligator or hold snakes when you are back on dry ground.
Probably the most important thing to bring is a good sunscreen (like the below) because any hat you could wear would not stay on in the wind, so you will be exposed to the sun the entire time you are out there. This is one of my faves right now. You can click on it to see more, but it’s a pretty nice sunscreen that’s not sticky but has protected me from the sun on many trips and isn’t expensive.
