Very useful “random things” pouch for travel
Because I travel so frequently, I have a few things that generally just live in my suitcase so I take them on every trip. One of those things is a small packet with a collection of small items in it that have often been helpful. I will list some of them here.
Nearly every trip I end up using one or more of the things in this small bag. Most are the kinds of things you already have around the house but will have a hard time finding on a trip when you want one. The pouch is small so if I don’t use anything I haven’t wasted much space either.
A collection of fasteners
This includes safety pins, 2 sizes of paper clips, 2 sizes of binder clips, different types of twist ties, rubber bands, carabiners, velcro wraps, and small magnet clips. The binder clips are probably the most used item: in addition to standard uses like closing a bag of chips, I’ve used these to hold drapes together, make a carrying case for a piece of art with cardboard I got from the trash, . . .
Random small items:
I also have a small measuring tape, sewing kit, and a wood ice cream spoon, and a small straw. Plus a wrist key holder and eyeglass holders.
More “office” supplies:
a few post-it notes in different sizes, a Sharpie, a pen, a pencil, a strip of duct tape, a tiny stapler and roll of tape, a small child-safe scissors (TSA compliant), and some tiny highlighters (this set you can click on is adorable and tiny). If you remove something from the pouch and are afraid of forgetting it, just put a post-it on the pouch so you’ll take it when you leave.
These are the mini-pencils I use that fit well in this pouch or in my pocket without stabbing me. I can’t figure out where I got the mini-pens but will add that link if I find it.
They are only available in .7mm leads. I like smaller leads, so if anyone finds something similar in .5mm leads please let me know. You can click on the picture to see more about them. I use them when I’m home too as they fit great in pockets and small purses too.
