Poo Poo Paper Park

Poo Poo Paper Park is an attraction that is just a few feet down the road (literally) from the Tiger Kingdom which I so enjoyed in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Educational

At this park, in about a half-hour, and for just a couple bucks, you can get a tour detailing how they make paper. They use elephant dung (as well as other types) which are on display. You also get to try your hand as screening the paper pulp to make paper and put it out to dry in the sun.

You’ll see the entire process from fresh dung to the final eco-friendly paper that is made in large sheets and then cut into the smaller pieces for all the products they make.

If that’s not your thing,  or if you just don’t have time to be creative, the gift shop has many different pre-made options available.  From poopoo frames to cards, from notebooks to toys (yes, made of poo) and t-shirts (thankfully not made of poo), they have gift options for everyone.

Looking at their products, you’ll notice that someone is having a really fun time coming up with products using words like “poop” and “poo” in their names, several being quite clever.

As you exit there is a little craft shop where you can make your own frames, books, boxes, etc using the poopoopaper they make there.

Upon returning home, I found they even sell things on Amazon. Here are links to two of their items, so you can support their eco-friendly endeavor from anywhere. (Click on the pictures).

If you are interested in this sort of recycling, there is a site online that offers poopoopaper from many different animals based in Canada, including elephant, horse, cow, donkey, and panda!
