Lisbon’s 500-piece nativity set (yes it’s huge)
Basilica De Estrela and the 500-piece nativity
This is a nice church in Lisbon, mainly noted for the 500 piece cork and terracotta nativity. The nativity is in a large floor-to-ceiling glass display case with lights around the sides. It is multi-dimensional, and the figures in front are much bigger than those further back giving it false perspective. Look out for the entry as it is hidden behind Queen Maria’s tomb and there is only a small sign there telling you to go behind it. There is also the option of climbing the stairs to the dome to get great views of Lisbon. The day I went was cloudy so I skipped that, but I heard the view is good.
