Machu Picchu train through the Sacred Valley of the Incas (Peru)
The main way to get to the Machu Picchu area is a nice train ride along a river from just outside Cusco (Poroy) and takes about 3.5 hours. It goes through the Sacred Valley and to Aguas Calientes which is just “down the hill” from Machu Picchu. If you do this, I recommend you get the Vistadome tickets for a better viewing experience (you can see through much of the ceiling of the train car).
There is a bus up from the town to MP. Or you can hike.
