Lake Titicaca floating islands (Peru)
The story goes that the people in this region got tired of being in fights with their neighbors, so they moved into the lake on islands of floating reeds to keep to themselves safely.
There are many islands, that are built on top of yearly to keep them above water level. Livestock is tended on the islands, and “canoes” made of the same material are used as transportation.
