News of the Good: Church in Iowa helps out a lot of people with medical debt

Capitol Hill Lutheran Church in Des Moines Iowa’s leader, the Rev Minna Bothwell, wanted to do something good for the area. After asking for suggestions from church members, she looked into RIP Medical Debt.

RIP Medical Debt allows people to pay off other American’s medical debt for pennies on the dollar. The church first realized they could pay off all the local debt, then that they could pay off the debt for all of their county. In fact they could pay off all the medical debt that RIP Medical Debt had for the entire state. So they did.
