Anne Frank House plus miniature
The Anne Frank House is available to tour in central Amsterdam (on the Prinsengracht canal). It has taken over a couple of buildings and now has a museum as well. Pictures are not allowed inside, so this is a picture of the outside.
During the war, Anne hid with her family and four others (all associated with the company that was on the lower floors, where her father had worked). The building, and particularly its Secret Annex, as it was called where they were hiding, became famous after WWII with the publishing of the diary written by Anne Frank while hiding there discussing their life, her fears and triumphs, and what was going on in the world that could determine from her circumstances.
Despite the help of many people, the Secret Annex was found, and those hidden there taken to concentration camps. Anne died but her diary, once published, became an international sensation.
