Seeing Galapagos Tortoises (Ecuador)
If you go to the Galapagos islands, you have a few options for seeing the Galapagos tortoises at one of the many breeding centers where they are hatched and protected until they are big enough to be released into the wild.
The centers keep the tortoises separated by age. The smallest ones are in small enclosed areas and the larger ones run around in fields and you can walk around with them. Just stay away from their heads and they can “nip” 🙂
