Don’t go to China without a VPN (unless you don’t want the outside world to find you; or see the outside world)

In China, you can’t get access to the websites most of us use on a daily basis. Things like Facebook, Gmail, Google, and many other sites can’t be accessed without a VPN. But not just any VPN, you want one with good connections in China. Before going to China last year, I spent a couple hours looking at the contenders and it seems ExpressVPN was the best one for me to try. Even seems to have a 30 day trial period which is nice. I obviously can’t test it out from here, so here’s crossing my fingers that it does work once I’m there. Otherwise, I will have NO outside contact rather than very little.

Update: expressVPN worked great and I recommend it if you are in China. Make sure you have it downloaded and installed and completely set up before you go.
