Aussie Mailboxes – creative recycling FTW
Aussie Mailboxes – creative recycling at it’s finest
This is a somewhat common style of mailbox on Kangaroo Island. While I saw many unusual mailboxes throughout rural Australia, I’ve got to say the ones I saw on Kangaroo Island were the most creative.
Tasmania had some really fun ones too.
Many, like this one, were household appliances (microwaves, fridges, and washers/dryers were the most common), but some were simply old barrels or plastic buckets.
Aussies really use anything of a large-ish size that will keep their mail dry. This one was one of my favorites because it was rather adorably decorated (I erased the street address info on it).
Stay weird, KI!
