Monet’s Garden (Giverny, France)

If you are in northern France and have time, I heartily recommend going to see Monet’s Garden. I went because it was on my tour and was surprised to find that it was the highlight of my trip north of Paris.

The gardens are delightfully organized more by color than species as so many are, and the different plants are all mixed in rows that are sometimes similar colors and sometimes complimentary.

Get there as early as you can. While good pictures are possible throughout the day as many paths are blocked off from people’s access, it gets quite crowded on the narrow paths, and it will take a while to walk around what you can see. Additionally, the tour of the house can have a significant wait line.

The lily pond is magnificent.

Additionally, you can see Monet’s house, which is as colorful inside and out as you would expect.
